Friends Season 6
Overview
Vegas has consequences. Season 6 opens with Ross and Rachel discovering they got married, and while that gets untangled (slowly, and with Ross lying about an annulment in peak Ross fashion), the season really belongs to Monica and Chandler. He moves in, they figure out how to actually live together, and the show starts treating them like a real couple instead of a punchline. Joey, meanwhile, cycles through roommates — including a dancer played by Elle Macpherson — and Rachel bounces from place to place after a fire at Phoebe's. There's gold in the margins this season: Rachel's spoiled sister Jill turns up (Reese Witherspoon, perfectly cast), Ross starts teaching at university and immediately makes terrible decisions, and Bruce Willis pops in for a run of episodes as the terrifying dad of Ross's student girlfriend. 'The One with Unagi' alone justifies the season. And the finale? Chandler spends two episodes trying to throw Monica off the scent of his proposal, and the scene it builds to is one of the most emotional moments the show ever did. Season 6 is Friends settling into its second act — a little older, a little warmer, still very funny.
