Friends Season 4
Overview
Start with a name said at the wrong altar. Actually, start earlier — with a beach house, a jellyfish sting, and Ross and Rachel so on-again-off-again that even their friends are exhausted. Season 4 is Friends at its sharpest, the year the show stopped being just a hit and became a machine. Monica, freshly out of the Richard era, throws herself into work and a string of bad dates. Joey falls for his co-star and then has to watch Chandler fall for her too, which gives us Chandler in a box at Thanksgiving, still one of the funniest half-hours the show ever made. Phoebe agrees to carry triplets for her brother Frank, and Lisa Kudrow somehow makes the weirdest storyline on TV genuinely moving. Then everyone flies to London for Ross's wedding to Emily, and you know exactly how that ends. The jokes land fast, the cast clicks like a relay team, and nearly every episode has a scene people still quote at each other. If someone asks why this sitcom ruled the nineties, hand them this season.
