Overview

Twenty years apart. Claire (Caitriona Balfe) returns to her own time; Jamie (Sam Heughan) survives Culloden. The season follows the couple across two decades of separation — her life without him, his life without her — and the love that refuses to become history. Sweeping, romantic, and epic, it ends with Claire and Jamie reunited in the 18th century, twenty years later, and the story starting again where it stopped. Twenty years is a long time to wait, and the season makes the audience feel every one of them: Claire's life in her own time, Jamie's survival after Culloden, and the love that neither distance nor decades could end. The reunion lands because the separation was real.
