Outlander Season 5
Overview
Home is worth fighting for, and that's exactly the problem facing the Frasers this season. Life at Fraser's Ridge looks settled on the surface — Brianna and Roger marry in a big, joyful opener — but North Carolina in 1770 is a powder keg. The governor orders Jamie to raise a militia and hunt down the Regulators, men he privately sympathizes with, which puts him on the wrong side of a war Claire knows is coming. Meanwhile Stephen Bonnet, the pirate who attacked Brianna, is still out there somewhere, and just knowing that poisons the family's peace. Claire pushes her medicine further than the century allows, quietly experimenting with moldy bread and microscopes, which draws exactly the wrong kind of attention from neighbors who already think the Frasers are strange. Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe carry the emotional weight as always, and Duncan Lacroix gets some of his best material as Murtagh, now leading the very rebellion Jamie may be ordered to crush. It's a slower, sadder season about loyalty and impossible choices, and it builds toward a gut-punch of a finale.
