Overview

The end starts with a gunshot in the family. Tony Soprano gets shot by his Uncle Junior, drifts through a coma full of strange, dreamlike visions, and wakes up a different man, or at least a man taking stock. James Gandolfini anchors all of it, that mix of menace and tired sadness he does so well. From there the final season moves into the last brutal conflicts between the DiMeo family and the Lupertazzi family, with an indictment hanging over Tony while he tries to protect his own. Edie Falco is superb as Carmela, caught in his orbit as always. And then there's the finale. The diner. The cut to black. People are still arguing about it, and honestly? That's kind of perfect for this show.
