Grey's Anatomy Season 7
Overview
Season 7 is basically one long recovery. After the hospital shooting that ended season 6, nobody at Seattle Grace is okay, and the show doesn't pretend otherwise. Cristina, who held it together with a gun to her head, falls apart completely — she can't operate, quits surgery, and spends a chunk of the season planning a wedding and working as a bartender, which worries everyone more than the tears would. Meredith becomes the steady one for once, Derek throws himself into an Alzheimer's trial, and a hospital trauma counselor (James Tupper) works through the staff one by one. There's lighter stuff too: Callie and Arizona hit a wall when Arizona leaves for Africa, Mark Sloan becomes an unlikely softie, and Teddy falls for a patient she marries largely for his insurance. And yes, this is the season with the musical episode, where a badly injured Callie drifts through the hospital's greatest-hits songs — fans still argue about that one. It all builds to Meredith making one reckless choice for Adele Webber that blows up her career and her marriage right as the season closes.
