Grey's Anatomy Season 2
Overview
If season one was the hook, season two is where Grey's Anatomy became a phenomenon. The interns are settling in at Seattle Grace, but nobody's life is getting simpler: Meredith is still tangled up with Derek, Derek's wife Addison has arrived in town to complicate everything, and George is still quietly pining in the corner of every scene. This is the season of Denny Duquette — a heart patient whose romance with Izzie builds from playful flirtation into something that will absolutely wreck you by the finale, ill-advised wire-cutting and all. It's also the season of the famous bomb episode, where a patient arrives with live ammunition lodged inside his body and the entire hospital holds its breath; it pulled in a gigantic audience and announced that this show owned Thursday nights now. Cristina and Burke's icy, ambitious romance, Bailey softening ever so slightly around her pregnancy, Alex revealing the decent human hiding under the jerk — everything gets deeper. Soap? Absolutely. But it's soap operating at the highest level, with a cast that can sell every ridiculous, heartbreaking beat.
