Grey's Anatomy Season 9
Overview
How do you follow a plane crash? Mostly, with grief. Season 9 opens in the aftermath: the hospital has lost one of its own in the crash's long tail — Eric Dane's Mark Sloan exits early, and his farewell is genuinely moving — Arizona is learning to live after losing her leg and taking the anger out on Callie, and the survivors are suing the very hospital that employs them, a lawsuit that nearly bankrupts Seattle Grace and forces a sale. The fix is pure Grey's: the crash survivors pool their settlement, the Harper Avery Foundation steps in, and the place is reborn as Grey Sloan Memorial, with the doctors now sitting on their own board. Meredith, newly pregnant and terrified of becoming her mother; Cristina, back from a miserable exile at the Mayo Clinic; all of them circling the same question of whether you can keep working in the place that hurt you. A fresh class of interns arrives to be traumatized properly. It's a heavier, slower season than the ones before it — more hospital politics, more mourning — but the back half finds the show's rhythm again.
