Downton Abbey Season 5
Overview
1924, and the world is shifting under Downton Abbey: the rise of the Labour government, a changing social order, and a family learning that the old rules don't hold anymore. The season follows the Crawleys and their servants through that shift, dramatic, emotional, and compelling throughout. It ends with the family preparing for the future, and the servants facing challenges of their own — upstairs and downstairs, everyone adapting at once. The season's theme is the show's oldest one: the house survives only if the people in it change. Upstairs and downstairs alike, the old order is giving way — and the season watches everyone negotiate what comes next.
