Overview

World War I, 1916 to 1918, comes to Downton Abbey — and it changes everyone in the house. The men go off to fight; the women take on new roles; the estate itself becomes something it never was. The season follows the Crawley family and their servants through the war years, dramatic, emotional, and compelling throughout. It ends with the war over and the family trying to rebuild their lives — in a world that won't go back to the way it was. The war doesn't just take the men away; it remakes the house, giving the women work, authority, and choices they never had before.
