Friends Season 3
Overview
Five words define this season: "We were on a break!" Season three takes Ross and Rachel from loved-up to broken-up, and the argument over what counts as cheating follows them — and TV fans — forever. Their split poisons and then slowly heals the group dynamic, which gives the writers rich material all year. The single episodes are superb. "The One Where No One's Ready" traps everyone in Monica's apartment in near real time and is basically a masterclass in sitcom timing. "The One with the Football" turns Thanksgiving into all-out sibling warfare, and a flashback episode shows how close the friends came to hooking up years earlier. Elsewhere, Monica throws herself into a catering business after a fling with millionaire Pete Becker, Phoebe digs up painful family history, and a chick and a duck move in with Joey and Chandler, because of course they do. It ends at a beach house with Ross frozen outside a bedroom door, having to choose. Fans often call this the show's best season. Watch it and you'll see why.
