Slow Horses Season 5
Overview
Roddy Ho has a girlfriend, and if you know Roddy Ho, you know that's not a romance subplot — it's a security incident waiting for a timestamp. Season five, adapted from Mick Herron's London Rules, uses the Slough House tech disaster's unlikely love life as the thread that drags Gary Oldman's Jackson Lamb and his disgraced spies into a wave of bizarre, escalating attacks designed to make Britain panic in exactly the wrong directions. The trick of this show never changes and never gets old: MI5's official side, all glass offices and smug competence, keeps missing what a team of washouts in a grubby office above a takeaway can see plainly. Jack Lowden's River Cartwright is still sprinting headlong toward trouble, Lamb is still three steps ahead while appearing to nap through all of it, and the insults remain the finest on television. Dark, funny, quotable, and over far too quickly at six episodes — though by now, that complaint is basically tradition.
