Overview

Charlie Cale (Natasha Lyonne) can't be lied to — she just knows, every time, and that gift has made her life a mess. A casino worker on the run from a casino owner, she drifts across the country in her Plymouth Barracuda, and trouble keeps finding her in every town she stops in. Rian Johnson's series is a howcatchem, an inverted detective story: you watch the crime happen first, then you watch Charlie untangle it, one blunt question at a time. It's a throwback to classic detective shows like Columbo and The Rockford Files, built for guest stars — Adrien Brody, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Chloë Sevigny and Ron Perlman among them — and for the pleasure of watching a down-on-her-luck drifter outthink people who think they're far smarter than her.
