Overview

She needs a boat. He needs a fare. The Amazon has other ideas. Emily Blunt plays Lily Houghton, a brilliant, adventurous scientist who hires a charismatic, scruffy riverboat captain, Frank Wolff (Dwayne Johnson), to take her through the Amazon in search of a magical tree with healing powers. Jaume Collet-Serra's adventure, based on the Disney theme park ride, is fun, lighthearted, and entertaining in the vein of The Mummy and Pirates of the Caribbean — jokes, rapids, curses, and a villainous German prince (Jesse Plemons) hot on their trail. It's a throwback adventure where the banter is as sharp as the danger, and the tree everyone's chasing might just be worth the trip.
