Game of Thrones Season 5
Overview
Game of Thrones Season 5 continues the story of the characters. The season follows Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) as she struggles to rule Meereen. She is opposed by the Sons of the Harpy, a resistance movement of former slave masters. She also meets Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), who becomes her advisor. The season also follows Jon Snow (Kit Harington), the Lord Commander of the Night's Watch, as he tries to make peace with the wildlings, allowing them to settle south of the Wall. This decision is unpopular with his men. Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) is imprisoned by the Faith Militant, a religious army, and forced to do a "walk of atonement" naked through the streets of King's Landing. The fifth season ends with Jon being betrayed and murdered by his own men. The season is controversial for its depiction of sexual violence, including the rape of Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) by Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon).
