The Walking Dead Season 10

Overview

The war with the Whisperers hangs over everything this season. Alpha's people wear the faces of the dead, live like animals, and follow rules nobody in Alexandria, Hilltop, or Oceanside can reason with — so the communities spend most of the season braced for a fight they know is coming. Carol is hell-bent on revenge after what Alpha did to Henry, and her feud with Samantha Morton's ice-cold Alpha is the season's real engine. Negan, of all people, gets let out of his cell and sent to infiltrate the Whisperers, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan somehow makes you unsure whether he's playing them or joining them. Michonne gets a proper send-off too, as Danai Gurira leaves the show with a storyline that sends her searching for Rick. There's also Gamma, a true-believer Whisperer who starts to crack, and a horde so big it's less a zombie threat than a weapon. Showrunner Angela Kang keeps the tension slow-burn rather than action-heavy, and a pandemic delay before the finale only made the wait feel longer.
