The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent
Overview
What happens when Nicolas Cage plays Nicolas Cage, and the joke turns out to be a genuinely good movie? Cash-strapped and creatively stuck, the fictionalised Cage accepts a lucrative offer to attend a wealthy superfan's birthday party in Mallorca. That fan, Javi, played by Pedro Pascal, turns out to be warm, funny, and possibly hiding a lot more than a movie collection. Before long the CIA is involved, a kidnapping plot is unfolding, and Cage is in over his head in ways no script could prepare him for. The real joy is the Cage-Pascal chemistry — goofy, sincere, and endlessly quotable, packed with loving nods to Cage's wild career. Meta, hilarious, and surprisingly heartfelt. If you know Cage's films, you'll catch twice the jokes. If you don't, it's still a blast.
