Supernatural Season 3
Overview
Dean's got a year to live, and Season 3 is basically a ticking clock with monsters in it. Sam spends the season hunting for a way out of the deal — any way out — while Dean pretends he's fine with dying, which fools nobody. Two new women shake up the boys' world: Ruby, a demon who claims she wants to help and comes with a knife that can actually kill her kind, and Bela, a gloriously selfish thief who steals occult objects for rich clients and drives Dean up the wall. The season's shorter than usual because of the writers' strike, but honestly the compression helps — there's barely a wasted episode. 'Mystery Spot' is the standout, trapping Sam in a time loop that starts funny and turns absolutely brutal; it's still one of the best episodes the show ever made. Meanwhile a new power called Lilith is consolidating hell, Gordon the hunter is back and worse than ever, and every crossroads demon Sam corners gives him the same answer. You know where this is heading. The finale doesn't flinch. Season 3 is lean, mean, and ends on an image fans never forgot.
