Supernatural Season 2
Overview
Season 2 opens with the Winchesters broken — literally. The car crash from last season's finale puts Dean in a coma, and John's way of fixing it costs him everything. From there the season gets darker and more personal. Sam's visions aren't random anymore; there's a whole generation of 'special children' out there, and the yellow-eyed demon has plans for every one of them. We get the Roadhouse, Ellen and Jo, and Gordon, a hunter who thinks the only good monster is a dead one and doesn't care if Sam counts as one. Some episodes still hit like little horror movies — the clown one will ruin carnivals for you — but the mythology is always tightening. And then there's the finale, where Dean makes a choice that defines the entire series: one year, his soul, his brother back. It also features arguably the season's best hour, 'What Is and What Should Never Be,' where Dean wakes up in a life where his mother never died. Season 2 is where Supernatural stops being a monster-of-the-week show and becomes a story about what two brothers will do to each other — and for each other — when hell comes calling.
