Overview
Mum's escaped from hell. That's the problem Season 2 hands Lucifer, and Charlotte — played with slippery charm by Tricia Helfer, inhabiting the body of a high-powered lawyer — spends the season swinging between doting mother and cosmic threat. The family drama is the point here: Amenadiel's losing his powers, another brother turns up with a blade that can erase beings entirely, and Lucifer starts to wonder whether everything he feels for Chloe might be his father's design, after a revelation about her birth makes her literally heaven-sent. It's heavy stuff, but the show never forgets to be fun — new forensic scientist Ella Lopez arrives like a ray of sunshine in the morgue, and Tom Ellis keeps finding new shades of smug, wounded and ridiculous, sometimes in the same line. Dr. Linda finally sees the truth about her favourite patient, and her reaction arc is one of the season's best threads. The case-of-the-week stuff is still there if that's your thing, but honestly it's the celestial family therapy that makes Season 2 a step up — bigger mythology, real stakes, and an ending that changes the rules completely.
