Line of Duty Season 5
Overview
AC-12 has chased bent coppers for years, but season 5 goes after the one thing bigger than any single officer: the organized crime group running rings around the police, and the mystery figure known only as "H." The way in is John Corbett, an undercover officer played by Stephen Graham, who's gone so deep inside the gang that nobody — including the audience — can tell whether he's still doing the job or has switched sides for real. Graham is frighteningly good: soft-spoken one minute, explosive the next. Meanwhile Superintendent Hastings, the man who built AC-12, starts looking like a suspect himself, and watching Adrian Dunbar's blustering moral compass wobble is half the fun. Kate and Steve do the legwork as usual, lawyer Gill Biggeloe hovers at the edges of every decision, and Jed Mercurio structures the whole thing like a trap — every interview scene plays like a chess match where one wrong word ends a career. This was the season that turned Line of Duty into a genuine national event in Britain, and the viewing figures proved it.
