Billions Season 3
Overview
Axe is out on bail, barred from trading, his assets frozen — and somehow more dangerous than ever, because a man like Bobby Axelrod with nothing to do will find a way to do it through other people. Season three runs on the fallout of the Ice Juice play, a sabotaged investment that left a trail of wreckage Chuck Rhoades is determined to pin on him — even as Chuck launches a run for governor that requires him to become exactly the kind of politician he used to prosecute. The real story, though, is Taylor. No longer the intern, they're now Axe's sharpest weapon and increasingly aware of what that costs; watching Asia Kate Dillon quietly take over scenes from two acting heavyweights is one of the season's great pleasures. John Malkovich drifts in as Grigor Andolov, a Russian oligarch carrying a private army's worth of menace, and every alliance on the show shifts at least twice. This is Billions at its most confident: dense, funny, and completely ruthless about money and the people who worship it.
