The Wire Season 4

Overview

The drug trade in Baltimore, seen through the city's schools. The season focuses on four young boys at risk of being drawn into the trade, and the school system that's supposed to save them. Realistic, gritty, and emotionally devastating, it's widely considered the best season of the series — the season where The Wire's argument becomes clearest: the system doesn't fail these kids by accident. It fails them by design. The four boys aren't symbols; they're the season's heart, and watching the system close around them is the show at its most devastating. The school system is the season's real subject, and its failure is the tragedy.
