Overview

Before he was the Man in Black, he was a boy in Arkansas who lost his brother in a tragic accident and never quite got over it. Walk the Line follows Johnny Cash (Joaquin Phoenix) from that childhood through his rise to fame, his battles with drug addiction, and the turbulent, tender relationship with June Carter (Reese Witherspoon) that anchored him. James Mangold's biographical musical drama lets the music do the talking — Phoenix and Witherspoon perform their own vocals, and both are superb. It's a powerful, emotional journey through the cost of fame and the love story that held one of country music's legends together when everything else was falling apart.
