Overview

Cassie Thomas looks like an easy target. That's exactly the point. By night she pretends to be drunk at bars, waits for some self-described nice guy to take her home, then drops the act and confronts him with what he was about to do. Carey Mulligan is extraordinary here, playing a woman hollowed out by something traumatic in her past, turning grief and fury into a dangerous double life. It's sharp, it's stylish, and it's furious about a world that keeps failing women. Funny one minute, chilling the next. This is a revenge story with a real argument behind it, about consent and complicity and who gets believed. It will stay with you long after the credits roll. Fair warning, though. The ending is not a comfortable one.
