Mr. Robot is a 2015 techno-thriller drama television series created by Sam Esmail, starring Rami Malek as Elliot Alderson, a cybersecurity engineer and vigilante hacker. The series is set in New York City in 2015. Elliot is a brilliant but deeply troubled young man. He suffers from social anxiety, depression, and paranoid delusions. He is also a drug addict. He works for a cybersecurity firm, Allsafe, but he spends his nights hacking people, gathering information, and sometimes helping them.
