Overview

Judas and the Black Messiah is a 2021 biographical drama film directed by Shaka King, based on the true story of Fred Hampton (Daniel Kaluuya), the chairman of the Illinois Black Panther Party, and William O'Neal (Lakeith Stanfield), the FBI informant who betrayed him. The film is set in Chicago in the late 1960s. O'Neal is a small-time criminal who is recruited by the FBI to infiltrate the Black Panther Party. He rises through the ranks and becomes Hampton's bodyguard. The film follows the cat-and-mouse game between Hampton and the FBI, and the tragic betrayal that led to Hampton's murder.
