The Invisible Man
Overview
The scariest monster in this film is one nobody else can see. Cecilia Kass has just escaped her wealthy, abusive ex-boyfriend Adrian when news of his death should bring relief. Instead the terror ramps up. He's faked his death and he's using his tech to turn invisible, tormenting her while making her look unhinged to everyone around her. Elisabeth Moss is phenomenal, carrying the whole thing with a raw, trembling performance as a woman being gaslit by a man the world refuses to believe exists. Aldis Hodge is solid support, but this is Moss's film. It's tense, it's clever, and it's really about domestic violence and trauma and the fight to be believed. Empty rooms become scary here. Genuinely scary. And you never forget who the real monster is.
