Overview

Major William Cage (Tom Cruise) is a cowardly public relations officer who is forced to fight in a war against aliens called Mimics — and he is killed in battle almost immediately. Then he wakes up. And wakes up. And wakes up, reliving the same day over and over in a time loop. Doug Liman's film turns that loop into a weapon: Cage becomes a skilled soldier through sheer repetition, and teams up with Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt), a legendary warrior, to find a way to defeat the Mimics. It's a smart, funny and action-packed sci-fi thriller, and a perfect use of its premise — every death teaches him something, every reset makes him sharper, and the only way out of the loop is to win a war he was never meant to survive.
