The Crown Season 2

Overview

1956 to 1964, and Queen Elizabeth II (Claire Foy) is learning that the crown doesn't protect a marriage — it tests it. The season covers the Suez Crisis, the resignation of Prime Minister Anthony Eden (Jeremy Northam), and the Profumo affair, a scandal involving a government minister and a Russian spy. Alongside the politics, it follows the deteriorating marriage between Elizabeth and Philip, two people bound by duty and pulling apart under it. It ends with the birth of Prince Andrew and the beginning of the 1960s — a new decade, and an old marriage still holding. Duty, in this season, is both armor and wound.
