Castle Season 3
Overview
Season three opens with Castle and Beckett returning from separate summers — him with his ex-wife, her with a boyfriend — and both of them lying about how fine they are with it. The cases keep the spark alive: a Broadway producer, a juror poisoned mid-trial, a magician found drowned in a tank he should have escaped. Then the season starts swinging bigger. In "3XK," a meticulous serial killer known as the Triple Killer slips through their fingers, leaving behind the promise — never quite spoken — that they'll meet again. In "Knockdown," Beckett's mother's murder, the cold case sitting underneath the whole series, suddenly heats up, and the new leads point uncomfortably close to home: people Beckett trusts have been keeping secrets for a decade. Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic do career-best work as the flirting gives way to something heavier, and the supporting cast gets its shine too, with Ryan and Esposito's bromance in full bloom. The two-parter "Setup" and "Countdown" strands the pair in a freezer while a bomb ticks somewhere in the city. And the finale? One of the most talked-about hours in the show's history. No spoilers. Just be ready.
