Overview

Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), the eldest son, is looking for a wife — and he finds Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley), a sharp-tongued, intelligent woman visiting from India. The season follows the classic enemies-to-lovers arc: Anthony and Kate clash, and clash, and clash again, until the clashing becomes something else entirely. Alongside the romance, the season reveals the season's other secret: Lady Whistledown is Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan). It ends with Anthony and Kate married, and Penelope struggling under the weight of her secret. The enemies-to-lovers arc works because the clashes are real: two strong wills, neither willing to yield, until yielding becomes the point.
