Alias Grace
Overview
Did she do it — or did the world decide she did? In 19th-century Canada, young Irish immigrant Grace Marks sits in prison for a murder she may or may not have committed, and her story comes out in fragments, memories, and silences that never quite line up. As a doctor tries to unlock what really happened, Grace emerges as a fascinating puzzle: victim, survivor, manipulator, or all three at once. Sarah Gadon anchors the miniseries with a quietly magnetic performance, and the period detail feels lived-in rather than staged. Atmospheric, unsettling, endlessly discussable. It's a psychological drama about gender, class, power, and the stories women were forced to tell just to survive. You'll be arguing about the ending long after it fades. That's half the fun.
