Overview

Mexico in the 1980s, and the rise of the Guadalajara Cartel. A companion series to Narcos, the season follows DEA agent Kiki Camarena (Michael Peña) as he investigates the cartel — and it ends with his kidnapping, torture, and murder, the event that turned a drug investigation into a war. The season's power is in that arc: one agent, one cartel, and a killing that changed American drug policy. Camarena's story is the season's spine, and its ending is the reason the whole series exists. Camarena's murder is the season's turning point: the moment an investigation becomes a war, and the war becomes personal.
