What If Season 3
Overview
The Watcher has watched long enough, apparently. Season three closes out Marvel's animated multiverse experiment with Jeffrey Wright's Uatu finally stepping out of the shadows — and getting put on trial by his own kind for interfering too much, which longtime viewers knew was coming. The episode menu is the usual glorious nonsense: the Avengers piloting giant mechs against a Hulk-sized mega-Hulk, Agatha Harkness chasing cosmic power through a 1930s Hollywood musical, the Winter Soldier teaming up with the Red Guardian to stop an assassination in 1991, and a full-blown Western with Shang-Chi and Kate Bishop in 1872. Then the finale goes properly big — Storm wielding Mjolnir, Captain Carter (Hayley Atwell) leading one last impossible rescue, and a roll call of variant heroes that plays like a love letter to the whole series. Not every episode lands equally, but as a goodbye it's generous, strange, and surprisingly emotional about a cosmic bystander whose whole job was doing nothing. Some job. Some finale, too.
