Overview
Mildred Hayes is done waiting. Months after her daughter's murder goes unsolved, this grieving mother rents three roadside billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri, and uses them to publicly shame the local police. Frances McDormand is magnificent as Mildred, furious and funny and impossible to intimidate, even when the whole town pushes back. Woody Harrelson plays the chief in her crosshairs with real decency, which makes it all messier, not simpler. It's a darkly comic story about grief and justice and whether damaged people can still find a way forward, and Martin McDonagh's dialogue is razor sharp. No easy answers here. Nobody gets let off the hook, including Mildred herself. You'll laugh, you'll wince, you'll think, and you'll be thinking about it after.
