The Mother is a 2023 action thriller film directed by Niki Caro, starring Jennifer Lopez as a deadly assassin who comes out of hiding to protect her long-lost daughter. The film is set in Alaska, Cuba, and the United States. The Mother is a former military sniper who is forced to go into hiding after she betrays her former partners in crime. She leaves her infant daughter behind. Years later, her daughter, Zoe (Lucy Paez), is kidnapped by the same criminals, and the Mother must come out of hiding to rescue her. The film is a gritty, violent, and emotionally charged action movie. Jennifer Lopez trained extensively for the role, performing many of her own stunts. The film was a commercial success, becoming one of Netflix's most-watched original films. It was praised for Lopez's performance and the action sequences.
