The Recruit Season 2
Overview
Owen Hendricks cannot catch a break, and season two doesn't even pretend otherwise. Noah Centineo's rookie CIA lawyer gets shipped off to Seoul this time, assigned to an asset whose wife has been kidnapped — which sounds manageable until you remember this show's golden rule: every favour Owen does creates a worse problem in a nicer hotel. His local partner is NIS agent Jang Kyun, played by Teo Yoo with the weary competence of a man who has dealt with Americans before, and their odd-couple spycraft is the season's best engine. Back home, the graymail fallout from last season keeps spreading, and Maddie Hasson's Nichka — the asset-turned-assassin Owen really should stop underestimating — resurfaces at exactly the worst possible moments. At six episodes it's tighter than season one, funnier in spots, and meaner about what the Agency does to basically decent people. Netflix cancelled the show afterwards, which is a real shame: this cast had years left in it.
