Overview

Frankie Dunn doesn't train champions anymore. The aging Los Angeles boxing trainer, played by Clint Eastwood, has been scarred by his past and cut off from his daughter, and he's sworn off title fights. Then Maggie Fitzgerald walks into his gym. Played by Hilary Swank, she's a waitress in her early thirties, old for a boxer, poor, and desperate to escape the life she was born into, and she begs Frankie to train her. He says no. Then he says yes. With his old friend Eddie, played by Morgan Freeman, they build her into a contender, fight by fight. Tender, tough, and ultimately heartbreaking, about second chances and chosen family and what we owe the people we love. When triumph turns to tragedy, it doesn't look away.
