Lawmen Bass Reeves
Overview
Out in Indian Territory, where the law barely reaches and danger rides on every trail, one man becomes a legend by refusing to back down. David Oyelowo plays Bass Reeves, a former slave who escaped during the Civil War and lived among the Creek and Seminole peoples before becoming one of the first Black deputy U.S. marshals west of the Mississippi. His job is to bring order to a huge, unforgiving frontier, tracking outlaws across harsh country and leaning on courage, cunning, and a sense of justice that does not bend. Even when the trail leads close to home, he does not flinch. Gritty, sweeping, and very human, this is a Western about a man who carried the law on his shoulders and changed what a frontier hero could look like. Old-school in the best way.
