King Richard

Overview

Before Venus and Serena Williams were superstars, they were two kids on the public courts of Compton — and their father had a plan. A 78-page plan, to be exact. Will Smith plays Richard Williams, the determined, ambitious, and deeply unorthodox father who coached his daughters from those cracked courts all the way to the world stage, convinced they were destined for greatness long before anyone else believed it. Reinaldo Marcus Green's sports drama, based on the true story, is an inspiring, emotional look at family, hard work, and the American Dream — with Aunjanue Ellis as Brandi Williams, Richard's wife, and Saniyya Sidney and Demi Singleton as Venus and Serena. It's an underdog story where the underdogs were planned all along.
