The Hangover
Overview
The groom is on the roof. That's not a spoiler the movie is protecting — it's the punchline the whole thing is building toward, and getting there is the funniest detective work ever done by three men who can barely stand up. Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis play friends who take the groom to Las Vegas for a bachelor party, then wake up the next morning in a trashed hotel room with no memory of the night before and no groom. The wedding is hours away, so they have to retrace their steps across Vegas, one humiliating clue at a time, piecing together a night that clearly went very, very wrong. The comedy comes from the gap between how normal these guys think they are and what the evidence says they did — and yes, Mike Tyson shows up, in a cameo people are still quoting all these years later. It's chaotic, crude and relentless, the kind of comedy that keeps topping its own worst decision with a worse one. By the end you'll understand exactly how the groom ended up on that roof, and you'll honestly be amazed it wasn't worse.
