Gen V
Overview
Gen V is a 2023 superhero horror comedy-drama television series created by Craig Rosenberg and Evan Goldberg for Amazon Prime Video, serving as a spin-off of The Boys. The series is set at Godolkin University, a prestigious college for young superheroes (called "supes"). The series follows a group of supes who are training to become the next generation of heroes. They are also being secretly experimented on by the university's corrupt administration. The main character is Marie Moreau (Jaz Sinclair), a young woman who can control her own blood. She accidentally killed her parents when her powers first manifested. She is desperate to prove that she is not a monster. She is joined by: Emma Meyer (Lizze Broadway), a young woman who can shrink by vomiting and grow by eating; Andre Anderson (Chance Perdomo), a young man who can control metal; Jordan Li (London Thor and Derek Luh), a young man who can switch between male and female forms; and Cate Dunlap (Maddie Phillips), a young woman who can push people with her mind. The series is a satirical take on college life, and on the tropes of superhero origin stories. It is also a horror show, with graphic violence and body horror. The series is set in the same universe as The Boys, and it features cameos from characters from that show. The series was a critical success, praised for its performances, its writing, and its social commentary. A second season is in development. Gen V is a worthy spin-off that expands the world of The Boys in exciting new directions.
