Deadpool and Wolverine
Overview
Wade Wilson is selling used cars, and it is the most miserable he has ever been — which, given his life, is saying something. Retirement does not suit Deadpool, so when the Time Variance Authority shows up to tell him his timeline, Earth-10005, is dying, it almost counts as good news. The catch: saving it requires a Wolverine, and the Wolverine from Wade's universe is dead. So begins a multiverse road trip to recruit a replacement, and the one Wade finds is a grizzled, depressed, alcoholic Logan who failed his own universe, lost the X-Men, and now wants nothing from anyone — least of all a motor-mouthed mercenary in a red suit. Hugh Jackman plays him like a man carrying a coffin around, and the bickering, brawling odd-couple energy between him and Ryan Reynolds is the whole engine of the film. Their journey lands them in the Void, a wasteland ruled by Cassandra Nova — Emma Corrin, eerie and delighted with herself — the twin sister of Charles Xavier. From there it is escapes, an army of Deadpool variants (watch for Dogpool), a stack of surprise cameos, and a finale where our two heroes sacrifice themselves to hold a timeline together. They do not stay dead, obviously — and they walk away as something neither expected: friends.
