Castle Season 5
Overview
The secret's the fun part now. Castle and Beckett are finally together, but they're hiding it from everyone at the precinct, which turns season five into a weirdly charming workplace farce — sneaking around, near-misses in the interview room, and Castle being absolutely terrible at playing it cool. Underneath the comedy, Beckett comes face to face with Senator Bracken, the man who ordered her mother's murder, and has to figure out what justice looks like when pulling the trigger would honestly feel better. The cases are some of the show's loosest and best: a reality-show killing, a sci-fi convention murder with actual sci-fi legends in the guest cast, a Rear Window-style outing for the show's 100th episode where a benched Castle is sure he's witnessed a crime, and the return of the 3XK killer. Alexis is off at Columbia making her dad nervous, Ryan and Jenny are trying for a baby, and Esposito spends a stretch suspended and furious. Then, late in the season, a once-in-a-lifetime job offer lands in Beckett's lap — one that would take her to Washington — and Castle has to decide what he's willing to ask of her. The finale leaves everyone hanging on one very important question.
