Barbarian
Overview
She arrives at her rental house in a dilapidated Detroit neighbourhood late at night — and finds someone else already there, because the house was double-booked. Tess (Georgina Campbell) agrees to share the house for the night with Keith (Bill Skarsgård), the other renter, and together they discover a hidden door in the basement leading to a labyrinth of tunnels. In those tunnels lives a woman (Matthew Patrick Davis), a mutated, inbred creature raised in captivity, terrifying and tragic at once. The owner of the house is AJ (Justin Long), whose story crashes into Tess's in a shocking twist halfway through. It is a terrifying, unpredictable, darkly funny horror story, subverting expectations at every turn, and a commentary on gentrification, gender dynamics, and the nature of evil — where the scariest thing isn't just what's in the basement, but how it got there.
