Overview
Abbott Elementary is a 2021 mockumentary sitcom television series created by Quinta Brunson for ABC. The series is set at Abbott Elementary, a predominantly Black, underfunded public school in Philadelphia. The series follows a group of dedicated, passionate teachers as they try to educate their students despite a lack of resources and a clueless principal. The series stars Quinta Brunson as Janine Teagues, a naive, optimistic, and enthusiastic second-grade teacher; Tyler James Williams as Gregory Eddie, a handsome, strait-laced, and reluctant substitute teacher; Janelle James as Ava Coleman, the selfish, incompetent, and hilarious principal; Sheryl Lee Ralph as Barbara Howard, a veteran, respected, and beloved kindergarten teacher; Lisa Ann Walter as Melissa Schemmenti, a tough, street-smart second-grade teacher; and Chris Perfetti as Jacob Hill, a well-meaning, awkward history teacher.
