Severance Season 1
Overview
Here's a job perk nobody asked for: a chip in your brain that splits you in two. At work, you remember nothing about your life. At home, you have no idea what you do all day — which means some version of you is stuck in that office forever, and that version is also you. Adam Scott plays Mark, who took the procedure after his wife died and now leads a tiny team at Lumon Industries doing data work none of them can explain. His office self gets a new colleague, Helly (Britt Lower), who hates it there on sight and starts asking the questions everyone else learned not to ask. John Turturro and Zach Cherry fill out the team, all beige corridors and bizarre corporate rituals, including a waffle party that's somehow more unsettling than any jump scare. Created by Dan Erickson and directed mostly by Ben Stiller, it gets scarier the quieter it gets. Every episode peels something back — about Lumon, about Mark, about what a company can talk people into handing over. And the finale is one of the most stressful hours of television in years. Season 1 didn't just build a fanbase. It built an obsession.
