Fargo Season 3
Overview
Two brothers, one valuable stamp, and everything goes to hell in the politest way possible. Ewan McGregor plays both Stussy twins: Emmit, the self-made 'Parking Lot King of Minnesota', and Ray, a parole officer with a comb-over, a lifetime grudge and a plan to steal back the inheritance he reckons Emmit swindled from him. Ray's girlfriend Nikki Swango (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), an ex-con who takes competitive bridge deadly seriously, is very much the brains of their outfit. A botched robbery kills the wrong man, and into the mess glides V.M. Varga (David Thewlis), a soft-spoken predator with ruined teeth who represents the mysterious company Emmit once borrowed money from — and who simply declines to ever leave. Carrie Coon anchors the season as Gloria Burgle, a small-town police chief so overlooked that automatic doors and faucets barely register her. Set in 2010, Noah Hawley's third installment keeps the show's recipe — ordinary Minnesotans, terrible decisions, sudden violence, deep snow — but turns it toward shell companies and men who insist the truth is whatever they say it is. Stranger, colder and more philosophical than the earlier seasons, and it really grows on you.
