The Witcher Season 4
Overview
Geralt of Rivia has a new face, and the Continent isn't getting any friendlier. Liam Hemsworth steps into the role Henry Cavill made famous, taking over as the mutated monster hunter in a medieval world thick with magic, monsters and political intrigue. The mission hasn't changed: protect Ciri (Freya Allan), the young princess of fallen Cintra whose powerful magical abilities make her the most hunted person alive. The Nilfgaardian Empire wants her - she's heir to Cintra's throne - and Geralt is bound to her by the Law of Surprise, the ancient Witcher tradition that claimed her for him before either of them knew it. Around them the web keeps tightening: Yennefer of Vengerberg (Anya Chalotra), the powerful sorceress who became Geralt's great love, fights her own battles as war spreads. New viewers should know the series has never held your hand - timelines fold back on themselves, the politics are dense, and it has always taken liberties with the source material, which longtime fans will happily argue about. What it never skimps on is the sword work: the fight choreography remains some of the best in fantasy television. Dark, mature and unapologetically complicated - the question hanging over this season is whether a new Geralt can carry the same legend.
